Senegal Parrot

This african parrot is found in central part of the continent. Lives on edges of savannas. Nests in tree holes where 2-4 eggs are laid. Its lifespan is about 25 years. Senegal parrots became mature within 2-3 years but often they start breeding much later. Senegal parrots are seen alone, in pairs and in small flocks. They feed on the ground and on the trees. Their food contains of grains, seeds and fruits. They are rather timid. When scared, they hide in the treetops. They make whistling and shrieking sounds. Kept at homes they quickly learn household sounds.
