DISTRIBUTION AND HABITAT
South, southeast and east Asia in Indian, Chinese, Laos and Thailand. It occupies a wide range of habitats including mixed forests, rainforest, mangroves and mountainous regions with forest cover. They are often common in urban areas of northern India including cultivated areas, temples, and roadsides.
They lives in groups of up to 200 individuals. Rhesus monkeys are highly active during the day. They are good swimmers and enjoy being in water.
Lifespan: up to 30 years.
Rhesus monkeys are omnivorous. Their diet consists of shellfish, bird eggs, honeycombs, spiders also fruits, seeds, flowers, leaves.
This species is polygynous, male pairs with mulitple females in his group. Pregnancy lasts up to 166 days. Female give birth to a single infant. Female nurse and care for their young until they become independent, for about 1 year.

These animals communicate by body postures and facial expression, tactile communication, vocalizations and scent cues.
