Near the main entrance gate there is a small island. From the beginning of spring until late autumn, on its grassy inclosures and specially adapted basins, live several tortoise and turtle species.
Among them you can see the Radiated Tortoise – species endemic to the Madagascar Island. It is a very long-lived species, with recorded lifespans of at least 180 years. Due to poaching they are currently critically endangered.
