The most well known representative of the African crocodiles can reach a length of over 6 m and weigh in at about a ton.

Despite their menacing character, female Nile crocodile is an attentive parent, and, after laying eggs, will guard it for the entire incubation period, around 90 days. When the little crocodiles are born, their mother often takes them gently in her jaw. An individual residing in the Gdańsk Zoo since 1964 was also a gift from the Broad Polish sailors.

They saved him while being transported to be used for culinary purposes.
