European Wolf The wolf is both a scary and respected ancestor of the common domestic dog. It is an intelligent predator that can hunt
efficiently in a bigger group. A pack of wolves functions as a highly structured society, following a strict hierarchy with clear role divisions. The right of giving birth to offspring, for instance, is only granted to the dominant male and female. The rest of the pack helps in taking care of the young. In Oliwa the species is particularly important to the local zoo, as it has been there from the beginning of the zoo’s existence.
