The Andean condor is a symbol of the great mountain ranges and coasts that span South America. This truly majestic bird, with a giant wingspan that reaches 3m, can soar at altitudes of up to 7km. Our pair of condors – Kora and Kacper – have been living in Gdańsk Oliwa since the late 1970s. The couple are the breeding pride of our zoo in Gdańsk. Numerous offspring have replenished many other gardens in the EEP (European Endangered Species Programme).
Successes in breeding this species have also led to the current logo of our garden, which features the image of a condor.
