Rare and very valued in zoological gardens, Alfred’s spotted deer started living in the Oliwa zoo. They live near the forested mountains, next to anoa, Natural environment of this endemic species are rainforest in Philippines. Alfred’s spotted deer is one of the rarest mammal in the world. The reason of this situation is that Philippine jungle is transformed into agriculture area and because of illegal hunting. Efforts are already taken to re-introduction of these species in their natural environment. The zoo in Poznań joined to cooperate with the government of Philippines to protect them.
